A Father's memory

Rabbi Yisrael Grossman, Rabbi Grossman's father, told a story of when his son was young. He noticed that his son's shoes had a hole in them, and went out and got him a new pair. The next, his father noticed that his son had a hole in his shoe again. His father said: "you managed to make a hole in your new shoes in one day?" Rabbi Grossman replied: "in school there is an orphan who walks around with torn shoes, he saw my new shoes and I felt him thinking- if I had a father I would have new shoes too- so I took of my new pair of shoes and gave them to him".
